Public Union Ukrainian Alliance Zero Waste

Founded in early 2019, the Zero Waste Alliance Ukraine is an association of Ukrainian organizations and activists working to solve the waste problem in Ukraine. The main goal of the Alliance is to influence the reform of the waste and resource management system in Ukraine. ZWAU strives to shift the focus from the discourse of 'how to recycle waste' to 'how to prevent waste generation'. This involves promoting reuse, composting, and recycling of resource-intensive materials. The Alliance works to make wasting resources a thing of the past. The organization is also a member of international networks such as Zero Waste Europe and Break Free From Plastic, and it has been instrumental in implementing the Zero Waste Cities program in Ukraine.
