About
For more than 170 years, the Association of the Sugar Industry (VdZ) has been committed to the interests of the German sugar industry. Founded in 1850 as the "Association for the Beet Sugar Industry in the Zollverein" in Magdeburg, it is the oldest trade association in Germany. The VdZ is headquartered in Berlin. Its responsibilities range from energy policy, economics, taxation, and food and feed law issues to technical/environmental concerns. In its role as an employers' association, it maintains close dialogue with the social partners and represents social and collective bargaining interests vis-à-vis politicians. The industry consciously embraces its ecological and social responsibility and consistently adheres to the principle of sustainability. The sugar industry meets the high product quality expectations of consumers and sugar processing companies through intensive research and development, modern quality management, and sophisticated technology.
