About
Indigenous Friends of The Mau Forest (IFOTMF) is a youth-led non-governmental organization registered with the NGOs Coordination Board of the Republic of Kenya. It was founded by a group of young environmentalists and indigenous rights activists committed to advocating for the conservation and restoration of the Mau Forest Water Catchment Area (MFWCT), which has been severely impacted by illegal human encroachment and other destructive activities. The organization also works to economically empower the Maasai and Ogiek Indigenous communities living near the forest, to foster harmony between these communities and the forest. In addition, IFOTMF is dedicated to supporting and implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to poverty reduction, hunger eradication, health, education, gender equality, clean water, affordable energy, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, and climate action.
