About

FOCUS 1000 registered annually with the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (SLANGO) and the Ministry of Planning & Economic Development upon inception in 2012.  Renewals of registration has been done annually with these two institions. The Organisation also renews its registration on an annual basis with the District Councils of all 16 districts. Service level agreements are signed with the line ministries of Health, Education, Agriculture and Gender & Children’s when projects in such areas are contracted.

FOCUS 1000 is a Sierra Leonean national non-governmental organization established to promote and support sustainable development through community engagement, using the  first 1,000 days of life—from conception to a child’s second birthday, as the entry point. With a vision of a Sierra Leone where every child survives, grows, thrives, and reaches his/her  full potential, FOCUS 1000 has implemented evidence-based, high impact and cost effecttive interventions using the life-cycle approach to improving maternal and child health, education, child protection, and community resilience services across all 16 districts and 191chiefdoms in the country.

Our work aligns directly the sustainable develompent goal index, especially through our integrated health, education, protection, nutrition, WASH, and climate-resilient livelihood programs. We work in partnership with the Kombra Network which comprises  6000 religious leaders, 10,000 traditional healers, 4,000 market women, 80 media houses as well as over 200 CBOs, youth groups, and faith-based organizations in implementing transformative initiatives.

FOCUS 1000 employs 100 full-time staff and 120 trained young professionals, with active presence in all 16 districts through the Kombra Network. It uses QuickBooks for financial management, conducts annual external audits, and adheres to strict financial and personnel controls, including procurement protocols, compliance checks, and monthly time sheets, ensuring transparency and effective project delivery.
