Louvain Coopération, the NGO of the UCL, applies academic know-how to resolve problems concerning developmental cooperation. Since 1981, this NGO has been battling hunger, disease and poverty alongside the most disadvantaged populations.

With 23 projects and 140 partners in the southern hemisphere, Louvain Coopération is the most important university NGO in Belgium.

Louvain Coopération creates innovative solutions tailored to specific developmental problems. The NGO is active in 8 southern countries in Africa, South America and Asia, and supplies people with the means to take their fate into their own hands by:

  • guaranteeing the quality of health care (field clinics, hospitals, …)
  • making sure that health care is accessible for everyone (health insurance fund)
  • supporting micro-entrepreneurship (micro-credits)
