About
Established in 1993 by an Act of Parliament, SIRDC provides technological solutions for sustainable development through reduction to practice of developed products and processes. SIRDC comprises twelve institutes whose activities can be grouped broadly to cover biotechnology, electronics, energy technology, environment and remote sensing, building construction, material science, metallurgy, information and communication technology, and metrology. SIRDC's mandate is to carry out strategic research and development (R & D) for the benefit of the manufacturing, service, agricultural and mining sectors of Zimbabwe as well as to commercialise R & D outputs.
Our Mission: to provide Zimbabwe and the region with technological solutions for sustainable development.
