UNIL/IUFRS - University of Lausanne / Institut Universitaire de Formation et de Recherche en Soins

The IUFRS was created in a context of growing needs of the population in care (aging population, increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and comorbidities, complexity of mental health problems and critical care and sophistication treble), with a concomitant shortage of health professionals, by higher public expectations about the quality of care, support, therapeutic or social monitoring and finally heavy pressure to reduce system costs health, including clinical practice both effective and efficient.

This is to help address the challenges of today and tomorrow and to participate in the development of knowledge specific to nursing in Switzerland and Francophone Europe, several organizations romandes partners have come together to create the IUFRS in 2007 . These partners are: the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO), the Vaud University hospital (CHUV), the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), Geneva University the Foundation the Source and the Swiss Association of nurses (ASI). The IUFRS is academically affiliated with the UNIL and administratively attached to the CHUV.
