IIRR (International Institute of Rural Reconstruction) is one of the world's leading rural development NGOs with a more than 60-year record of empowering rural communities to overcome poverty through people-centered sustainable approaches. It is a United States-based 501(c) (3) private voluntary organization with an office in New York City and headquarters in the Philippines. IIRR is a pioneer in championing sustainable agriculture and food production, rural health and education and has offices across 8 countries in Asia and Africa.
Since its establishment, IIRR has improved 44 million lives in 47 countries by using innovative approaches that are integrated, people-centered and sustainable. IIRR work in these countries in collaboration with local development partners and employs 200 staff members to work on programs from a local perspective. IIRR implements integrated and holistic programs in five (5) key areas of impact: Food Systems; Environment; Education; Economic Empowerment; and Health. Believing that poverty is interlocking and no single solution can be prescribed to solve it, these are deliberate choices made to be closer to the people we work with, which makes our work relevant and cost effective.
