About
Ability-in-Disability Initiative is a tax-exempt, non-profit, non-political, non-religious, and non-governmental, charitable organization. It was established and incorporated in Nigeria on the 14th day of June, 2007 under Part “C” of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990, Cap. C20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. In addition, it is a duly recognized Rotary Community Corps organization of the Rotary International, and a licensed JSTOR International Participant.
The major activities addressed by the organization include:
- Promoting children’s welfare and combating all forms of child abuse and molestations;
- Combating hunger, poverty, corruption, and diseases such as HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, and et cetera;
- Promoting education and skills acquisition, women empowerment and gender equality, computer literacy and ICT awareness, peace-building and fundamental rights;
- Promoting accelerated community development, and environmental protection; and
- Fostering the development of all useful hidden talents, abilities and creative powers amongst disabled people of all kinds.
It responds to these concerns through networking, collaboration and consensus building, education and awareness rising, advocacy, the providing of direct services on a not-for-profit basis, mentoring, training and leadership development workshops, the providing of legal, financial and psychological support for the needy, poor, vulnerable and most-at-risk people who would not have had any cause to smile but for our intervention.
Our mission is to build peace, promote environment friendliness, cultivate healthy lifestyles, gender equality, enlightened and inclusive society where ignorance, poverty, corruption and violence are history, and where the rights of all are respected, protected and upheld.
