About

Sanyu Africa Research Institute (SAfRI), is a Ugandan Non-Profit and Non-Government Collaborative Research Institute. Its focus is high quality, collaborative (local and international) clinical research in developing countries, particularly using low cost, innovative technologies. The institute is pivotal in investigating new ways of improving Maternal, Newborn and Child health, especially among the poor as well as promoting the implementation of inspiring models of clinical practice in resource limited settings.

This collaborative Institute of the the University of Liverpool, Busitema University, Mbale Regional Referral hospital, Ministry of Health, and Makerere University.is hosted at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, Health Manpower Development Complex, Mbale, Eastern Uganda. It was realized in 2011 under the chair-ship of Prof. Andrew Weeks, University of Liverpool, and launched in 2014 by Prof Anthony K. Mbonye, Ministry of Health Uganda
