The north needs well-qualified specialists. Since the gaps in the various branches of the industry have repeatedly opened up, then the national association of the Hamburg company associations, the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, and the employment agency established KWB in 1990. The overall objective is to develop and implement preventive qualification concepts for enterprises as well as employees of the region.

KWB makes the many unrecognized potentials visible in the labor market and promotes its use in the economy through forward-looking qualification. Its aim is to meet the specific needs of the economy by exploiting and improving existing resources in the long term and counteracting demographic changes. In this context, KWB focuses on specific target groups, such as young people with an immigration background, job returners, older employees and job-seekers with qualification requirements. The development of a sustainable infrastructure for lifelong learning is just as important as the development of cluster-oriented qualification models, for example in the areas of logistics or media and IT.
