Objectives: The reconstruction and new construction project for the BLS workshop in Oberburg focuses on enhancing the maintenance capabilities of the BLS S-Bahn fleet. The project arises from the consolidation plan due to the closure of the Bern Aebimatt location, streamlining maintenance operations to three key locations including Spiez, Bönigen, and newly, Oberburg. The new Oberburg workshop aims to provide efficient and sustainable maintenance services, supporting the economic operation of the Berner S-Bahn. The new facilities will replace current buildings and tracks with modern structures, facilitating both heavy and light maintenance of trains.
