Advisory Services: Preparing a Waqf Governance Framework for the Governance and Management of Waqf Institutions

Objectives: The Islamic Republic of Mauritania, supported by funding from the Islamic Development Bank, aims to enhance the capacity of the Mauritanian National Endowment Foundation through a technical assistance grant. This project will focus on developing a comprehensive governance framework for Waqf institutions by conducting an in-depth study to design an ideal model for governance and management, referencing standards from the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and global best practices. The implementation will span 12 months starting from September 1, 2025, facilitating the revitalization of Waqf assets to contribute to socio-economic development based on Islamic principles and the Maliki school of jurisprudence.
