Objectives: The tender aims to enhance urban risk and resilience management across Ecuador, aligning with national priorities and international commitments such as the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework. The project, 'Resilient Cities' or CiRes, funded by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung and implemented by GIZ, seeks to incorporate comprehensive risk management approaches into national policies and local urban planning, addressing climate and disaster risks. By fostering multisectoral integration and collaboration among national agencies and local governments in cities like Chone, Manta, Puyo, and Riobamba, the project focuses on strengthening institutional capacities at various levels, promoting gender equality, and improving public investment planning. Through national strategy development, local capacity building, and collaboration, CiRes aims to mitigate economic and social impacts of natural disasters and climate change, particularly in vulnerable urban areas.
