Project description
The overall aim of this project is to enable ENSTA-Kétou to contribute to the development of Benin's agricultural sector, reduce food insecurity and promote the role of women in agriculture.
The specific project objectives are to:
implement a sustainable, participatory and results-oriented management strategy;
implement a quality training offer, in collaboration with professionals;
strengthen the school's expertise and teaching and technical skills.
Benin is one of the poorest countries in the world with food insecurity affecting more than 10% of the population and many more people at the risk of insecurity, particularly in rural areas and in the north of the country.
Food insecurity in Benin is primarily caused by the low capacity of agricultural production systems, due to a lack of skills, outdated farming methods and challenges with regard to product processing and marketing.
The government is committed to increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the agricultural sector. Among other things, this will require human resources who are well trained, entrepreneurial and aware of the needs of the market.
ENSTA-Kétou, founded in 2009, can help the government achieve this ambition. The institution aims to offer training and services which produce professionals able to analyse constraints and intervene effectively to contribute to agricultural development.
