Fairtrade International is an NGO composed of member groups from all around the world that is responsible for Fairtrade's strategic direction as well as setting the Fairtrade Standards and assisting producers in developing countries.
Its objectives are to link disadvantaged producers and consumers, to advocate for fairer trading conditions and to help producers to overcome poverty, enhance their position and gain greater control over their lives.
Fairtrade collaborates with farmers and employees from over 300 commodities with the principal items promoted under the Fairtrade label being coffee, chocolate, banana, flowers, tea and sugar.
Focuses on initiatives that support community empowerment, civic engagement, and the work of non-governmental and civil society organizations at local, national, and international levels.
Includes cultural and artistic activities that reflect, preserve, and promote cultural identity, heritage, and creative expression.
