Call for Partners: Ethnographic Research on Childhood Obesity in Abu Dhabi

Project Overview:
We are seeking partners to collaborate on a critical ethnographic research project in Abu Dhabi focused on understanding the socio-cultural, individual, and environmental factors influencing childhood obesity. This research will inform policies and interventions as part of a broader obesity prevention strategy.

Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for experienced partners with:

• Expertise in Ethnographic Research: Proven experience in conducting fieldwork related to public health, particularly in childhood obesity.
• Cultural and Linguistic Proficiency: Fluency in Arabic and demonstrated cultural sensitivity are essential for interacting with local communities.
• Regulatory Navigation: Ability to obtain necessary permits and ethical approvals for working within school environments in Abu Dhabi.
• Research Capabilities: Skills in qualitative research methodologies, including interviews, observations, and data analysis, are crucial.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct ethnographic research to explore cultural beliefs, attitudes, and practices related to food, physical activity, and body image among children in Abu Dhabi.
• Identify local resources and interventions that promote healthy lifestyles and prevent childhood obesity.
• Analyze and report on the lived experiences of children and their families regarding obesity, mental health, and body image.
• Ensure strict adherence to ethical standards and information security protocols.
