Description

The Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) was officially established in 2005 in Panama to provide better support to 42 countries and territories in the region.

ROLAC takes advantage of the nature of Panama as a point of convergence between agencies, programs, non-governmental organizations and donors with regional interests for effective coordination of preparedness and response to the various humanitarian crises in the region.

OCHA ROLAC also takes advantage of the strategic location that Panama offers to deploy specialized personnel in evaluation and coordination to any crisis in Latin America and the Caribbean within 12 to 48 hours, thus providing a first line of support to governments and humanitarian partners during the initial phase of a response.

As the headquarters of the regional operation, OCHA ROLAC in Panama has a dedicated team of humanitarian professionals who work with national, regional and global humanitarian partners to identify the most urgent needs and develop collective action before, during and after the impacts of situations. humanitarian. These efforts are carried out together with the Regional Group on Risks, Emergencies and Disasters for Latin America and the Caribbean (REDLAC), made up of more than 30 organizations from the ranks of non-governmental organizations, the International Red Cross Movement and of the Red Crescent
