This section provides an overview of OCHA’s mandate, its leadership and how it is funded. OCHA is the part of the UN that is responsible for bringing humanitarians together to effectively respond to emergencies. Our mission is to mobilise and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering; advocate for the rights of people in need and promote preparedness and prevention.
