Aware of the importance of territorial cooperation and the integrated development of territories, as one of the priorities of the European Union, the Associations of Municipalities of Terra Fria do Nordeste Transmontano, Terra Quente Transmontana and Douro Superior (Portuguese members) and the Diputación de Salamanca and Zamora and the Ayuntamiento de Zamora united around this priority and created the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation – ZASNET, EGTC.
ZASNET, EGTC is a new legal instrument for territorial cooperation, within the scope of the European Union, endowed with legal personality, which aims to facilitate and promote territorial cooperation between its members, reinforcing economic and social cohesion. One of the main advantages of this form of organization is to develop joint strategies to raise community funds, within the scope of local and regional development policies between Portugal and Spain
