CEFE International is planning to apply for the project “Employment Promotion for Women in Waste Management and Circular Economy in Kenya”. We are seeking a Gender, PwD, and Behaviour Change Specialist to support gender equality, disability inclusion, and community behaviour change interventions in Kenya.


Tasks to be Performed:

  • Lead the design and implementation of gender-responsive and gender-transformative approaches within project activities.

  • Develop and adapt training modules addressing gender equality, prevention of sexual harassment, gender-based violence, and inclusion of people with disabilities (PwD).

  • Conduct sensitisation and awareness campaigns promoting women’s participation and equitable working conditions in the waste management and circular economy sectors.

  • Support the integration of gender-specific measures into partnerships between micro- and small enterprises (MSEs) and lead companies.

  • Ensure that training and coaching sessions are inclusive of PwD, and develop strategies to address their barriers to participation and employment.

  • Lead community engagement activities focused on changing attitudes towards waste management, recycling, and gender roles.

  • Collect data, document success stories, lessons learned, and provide recommendations for future gender and inclusion strategies.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

  • At least 7 years of proven experience implementing gender-sensitive or gender-transformative approaches in development projects.

  • Expertise in designing and delivering training on gender equality, PwD inclusion, and behaviour change communication.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting community sensitisation campaigns and working on social norm change initiatives.

  • Knowledge of international standards on gender equality, disability rights, and inclusive development.

  • Experience working in Kenya or similar contexts in sub-Saharan Africa is an asset.

  • Excellent facilitation, intercultural communication, and writing skills.

  • Fluency in English (knowledge of Swahili is an advantage).
