GAVA is a non-profit operating in Uganda and the Netherlands with supporters around the world. Together, we empower families that live below the poverty line to become self-sufficient.

We are the source of change, and with your help, we can improve the lives of families who are facing starvation and go days without eating a proper meal.
Our name, GAVA, comes from a Luganda proverb “Gava mu kulya” which means the source of energy, power and wisdom is food. With a satisfied stomach comes energy, an effectively functioning mind and positive reasoning. In this sense, food truly is the beginning of everything.
