Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Birds

The Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Birds (TOP) is a national public environmental organization, founded in 1994 as the first non-governmental organization for the protection of birds in Ukraine. Today, the Association is a Ukrainian partner of  BirdLife International  , a global partnership of environmental organizations.

Our goal is to prevent the reduction of the number and the disappearance of birds, to maintain the diversity of their species in nature by preserving and protecting key ecosystems that are crucial for birds and humans, and strengthening the role of communities through environmental measures.

Problems with birds and the environment are complex and ambitious. In order for our actions to be effective and successful, we focus our efforts primarily on the protection of the most threatened birds - these are species listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine and European and international red lists - as well as the conservation of the territories and habitats of such species .

A society is a public organization based on the support of its members and supporters. Membership in the organization is open to all interested persons, our lounges connect environmentalists, birds fans, scientists and amateurs - all those who are interested in birds and who are not indifferent to the problems of environmental protection. The governing body of the TOP is the Congress of Members, which adopts the strategy and main directions of the organization's activities. In the period between congresses, the Society is managed by a democratically elected Council , the current work is carried out by the Secretariat .
