Our goal: Priority for renewable energy

We are in the middle of a fundamental restructuring of our energy supply: the old energy sources coal, oil, gas and uranium are running out. They are being replaced by renewable energies from sun, wind, water, biomass and geothermal energy. In the foreseeable future, renewables will provide our entire energy supply.

When economic and social fields are in a state of upheaval, this cannot be done without considerable resistance - as is the case in the energy sector. Great joint efforts are therefore required to reach the right decisions in energy policy. The Federal Association for Renewable Energy plays a key role in this process as the umbrella organization of a successful and future-oriented industry:

We are campaigning for the rapid expansion of renewable energies in European, federal and state politics. We provide arguments and models for converting our energy supply. We represent the interests of companies that make us internationally competitive and promote climate protection.

Umbrella organization for the renewable energy sector
The Federal Association for Renewable Energy eV was founded in 1991 to represent the interests of the renewable energy sector in Germany.

One of the statutory tasks of the BEE is to improve the framework conditions for renewable energies and to enforce their priority over other energy sectors. As an umbrella organization, the BEE coordinates the individual activities of the associations towards politics and the public and promotes cooperation and the exchange of experience in the field of renewable energies.

The member associations of the BEE bring together a total of over 30,000 individual members and companies. The BEE Board of Directors is correspondingly broad. Experts from all national associations in the industry are gathered here. All five sectors of renewables are represented in the executive committee of the BEE. Working groups on the topics of electricity, heat, mobility and Europe support the board with their technical work. The office in Berlin organizes the activities of the association and implements the resolutions of the board.

All organizations and companies, clubs and associations that support the goals of the federal association and whose purpose is also the promotion of renewable energies can become members with voting rights. The ordinary general assembly takes place once a year. It decides on the work program and budget, elects the board and sets the membership fees.

Individuals can support the BEE as sponsoring members if they feel connected to the goals of the association.
