Wahid Foundation (formerly The WAHID Institute)

Established since September 7, 2004, The WAHID Institute (WI) is an institution that seeks to realize the intellectual principles and ideals of Abdurrahman Wahid in building moderate Islamic thought that encourages the creation of democracy, multiculturalism and tolerance among Muslims in Indonesia and throughout the world. In its various programs, WI held activities in progressive Muslim activists and dialogues between religious leaders and political figures in the Islamic and Western worlds. 

Mission: to develop, treat and disseminate peaceful and tolerant Islamic values; develop dialogue between local and international cultures to expand the harmony of Islam with various cultural and religious cultures in the world; encourage various initiatives to strengthen civil society and good governance in Indonesia in strengthening democracy.
