About

SOMALI YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (SYDF) is the largest youth alliance of Somalia-based non-governmental organization (NGO) with more than 300 members working in youth development.

SYDF is Local Non- profit, Non- governmental and Humanitarian organization founded by a faculty of Somali professionals and was officially launched in the year 2007 in Somalia and 2013 in Kenya by the youth for the youth.

SYDF is working across the interactive Conflict about the life-saving work for Peace's though Somalia which is ranked the least peaceful place on earth and the armed violence shows no signs of abating. Access to weapons is prolonging the conflict in Somalia, exacerbating violence, fueling crime, and actively undermining counter-insurgency, security and peace-building efforts.

Through donations from Somali community in the Diaspora, we started projects in the country. The organization is engaged in empowering local communities especially the youth by providing technical support and trainings to ensure local communities have necessary skills to be self-sufficient.

Currently SYDF is preparing to launch and implement a USAID funded youth project under the auspices of SSG/Chemonics in Juba land administration.

The SYDF staff members and volunteers have undergone comprehensive training through the SSG-Chemonics Team. The program aims at youth empowerment for socio-economic, cultural and political harmony, liberty and independence. This ushers in Somalia rule of law, order and democracy. SYDF uses the youth to advocate for peace, conflict mitigation and economic transformation based on formal and informal trainings.
