Position Description

EnCompass LLC is seeking a  Business Development Specialist to support new business development efforts. The Business Development (BD) Specialist’s primary areas of responsibility include developing and maintaining the BD team’s knowledge management systems, coordinating proposal teams and processes, supporting proposal teams in research and drafting of technical proposal sections, as well as the development of capability statements and tailoring of BD marketing materials.

The position may be remote or work a hybrid schedule at EnCompass’ headquarters in Rockville, Maryland.

Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

 Position Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions:

  • Supports the Business Development team throughout all phases of a proposal process, including research for new business activities regarding clients and the competitive landscape
  • Supports partner outreach and engagement for new business activities, including developing capability statements and attending partner meetings
  • Contributes to proposal development by drafting past performance, staffing, and capability sections
  • Supports development, formatting, and editing of BD-related materials
  • Coordinates communications and flow of information and data for external partners on complex proposals
  • Populates and maintains BD-related files and knowledge management platforms, including Salesforce
  • Assists Communications and Business Development teams in developing marketing collateral for use at client meetings and industry events
  • Engages with the Contracts team to facilitate the development of and processing of consultant invoices
  • Supports the Talent Acquisition team by representing and promoting EnCompass at networking and industry events
  • Supports recruitment efforts for proposal activities by identifying potential candidates and sharing requirements for proposal consultant candidates
  • Presents at All Staff and Business Development team meetings, as needed, including the development of engaging and informative presentations
  • Engages fully as a member of the EnCompass staff team, including participating in staff meetings and other EnCompass
  • Ability to work in an appreciative, strengths-based environment and to guide others in using an appreciative approach.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

Academic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 7 years of experience; Associate’s degree and 5 years of experience; Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience or Master’s degree and 2 years of experience. Degree in International Relations, Business or Management, Political Science or related field preferred .

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in the international development sector with knowledge of donors’ procurement and proposal development processes
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills along with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to coordinate efforts to ensure timely delivery
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to conduct interviews with potential consultants
  • Knowledge of KM systems and processes, and online tools for project and team coordination
  • Demonstrated mastery of the English language with advanced writing skills, superior spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Proposal development experience with demonstrated ability to align solicitation and team member requirements with potential consultant experience and expertise; ability to analyze, synthesize, and present information in a concise, creative manner
  • Dependability, reliability, and a willingness to work outside required set hours when deadlines require
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite and apps, particularly Excel, and/or Tableau, as well as online tools such as Adobe Connect
  • Ability to work in a strengths-based appreciative environment
