TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE NATIONAL DROUGHT POLICY IN SAMOA
Qualifications and skills required:
- Education at least a Master’s in Science (or equivalent) in policy development in the areas of climatic/weather systems, disaster risk management and resource management2 - In absence of Masters degree, 12 years of general professional experience is considered sufficient.
General professional experience:
- At least 8 years of professional experience in in weather and climatic systems within the Pacific Region Other skills - Experience of working in Asia and the Pacific;
- Demonstrates professional integrity and fairness with exemplary values and ethical standards and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
- Demonstrates professional competence and is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results;
- Display professional courtesy and fairness in working with others, cultural, gender, nationality, religion and age sensitivity and adaptability;
- demonstrate excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, accountability in the conduct of review, monitoring and reporting skills.
Specific professional experience:
- Experience of working in policy development, climate information systems and adaptation planning processes;
- Knowledge and understanding of climate change issues and adaptation measures;
- Significant experience in coordination, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes;
- Fluent in English with good communications skills and experience in workshop facilitation,
- Ability to manage the available time and resources and work to tight deadlines.
