Overview:

e.Gen Consultants Ltd. is seeking a qualified Project Coordinator in Timor Leste to support the implementation of teacher surveys and in-depth interviews (IDIs) under an international education research project. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all in-country data collection activities, ensuring compliance with research protocols, managing local teams, and maintaining regular communication with the regional project management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain required permissions, approvals, and logistical support for survey and IDI implementation.

  • Assist in finalizing sampling strategies and ensure access to target respondents (teachers and key informants).

  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and training of enumerators/interviewers in collaboration with the central team.

  • Oversee daily field operations and ensure adherence to survey protocols, ethical standards, and data quality assurance measures.

  • Monitor fieldwork progress, conduct spot/back checks, and address implementation challenges in real time.

  • Liaise with local stakeholders, schools, and institutions as needed.

  • Prepare and submit timely field reports, documenting progress, issues, mitigation steps, and notable observations.

  • Ensure secure handling, quality review, and submission of survey/IDI data, transcripts, and metadata.

  • Participate in periodic coordination meetings and facilitate communication between field staff and the MDRI team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, development studies, public health, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • At least 3 years of experience in survey coordination, field supervision, or similar roles in development research projects.

  • Strong knowledge of ethical research practices and digital data collection tools (experience with SurveyCTO preferred).

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Fluency in local language and working proficiency in English.
