Somali Act for Welfare and Development Actions (SAWDA)is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit making organization that operates mainly in Southern regions of Somalia to serve the poorest and the most vulnerable communities in the region with the launch of effective projects and advocacy activities. SAWDAmainly focuses on; Community development programs including; (Agriculture, Health, Education, WASH, GBV related initiatives), Youth Empowerment, Environmental protection & conservation. The philosophy of the institution is to improve the living standard of the young people, and children. (SAWDA) is an active institution established in Oct 18th 2017 by a group of Somali youth responding to their moral obligation regarding the miserable conditions of Somali society.
SAWDA has been working at a grass root level and seeking to provide an effective aid model to promote; agricultural sector development, WASH; by providing access to safe water supply to needy people and construction of water systems, promotion of GBVs, community development, sustainable health and schooling, youth and children empowerment through development programs, humanitarian relief programs; acting as an impartial and subscribing the humanitarian principles of “Neutrality and Do no harm”. The organization has a governing body known as the Board of Trustees. SAWDA has its own written organizational standard policies and procedures for both internal and external to maintain the required duties to meet the objectives and improve the collaboration with national and international organization as well as donors.
