About
The German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (DSIK) is the development policy arm of the Sparkassen Finance Group. DSIK together with its German, local and international partners targets micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) as well as socially and economically marginalised and vulnerable people. This approach serves for economic empowerment and inclusion as well as the combat against poverty.
To this end, the DSIK provides state-of-the-art training and advisory services to its partner institutions around the globe. Since 1992, DSIK has completed more than 250 projects in over 100 countries worldwide, covering all areas of banking and microfinance-related business. Its mission is to make the German Sparkassen experience accessible worldwide and to support economic and social development on-site through a needs-oriented banking business, thus contributing to the Global Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moreover, DSIK supports financial institutions around the globe, empowering them to operate professionally and profitably and to fulfil their social mandate.
DSIK focuses on six key areas in which the German Sparkassen have been successful: Sustainable Finance, Rural Finance, MSME Finance, Institution Building, Capacity Development, and Financial Literacy. In addition, the cross-cutting issues of Climate Change Mitigation, Women in Business, Displacement and Migration as well as Digital Transformation are of great and growing importance in DSIK’s project work.
Further information on DSIK can be found in our Annual Report 2022 and on our website.
