KfW Development Bank opened its office in Dar es Salaam in 2000, further strengthening Germany’s relations and cooperation with Tanzania. Since the first financial cooperation in 1962, KfW has been supporting the Government of Tanzania on behalf of the German Federal Government with grants for key development programmes all over mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. In addition, our office in Dar es Salaam is responsible for managing our projects with the East African Community (EAC), a close partner since the beginning of our cooperation in 1998.
Our current focus in Tanzania is on water and sanitation, health and biodiversity in a wide range of geographically and thematically diverse projects, while our cooperation with the EAC focuses on health, education and economic development.
