Caritas Valjevo began its work in the early 1990s and mitigated the consequences not only of the war and disintegration of Yugoslavia, but also of the consequences of the NATO bombing, by implementing various projects from intervention programs to long-term programs. In those years, Caritas Valjevo functioned as a branch of the Caritas of the Belgrade Archdiocese, and its official work began with the opening of the office in Valjevo in January 2001.
The current activities of Caritas Valjevo relate to the implementation of projects and activities to assist vulnerable groups, primarily the elderly and Roma, social welfare services, the development of social entrepreneurship, emergency situations and the promotion of mental health protection in the community.
Today, the sixteen-member team of Caritas Valjevo provides monthly services for 10,000 beneficiaries in the house for 100 users, two tonnes of laundry is washed out for people living on the edge of the margin and provided material assistance to over 50 households.
