Description

Kenya has the largest, most diversified economy in the region. Known as “the gateway to East Africa,” Kenya’s role as a transportation hub is vital to much of sub-Saharan Africa. The second most populous country in the region, Kenya has a young, ambitious and well-educated workforce – eager to contribute to the development of the country.

The progressive reforms embodied in the new Constitution can improve the quality of life for all Kenyans. Transferring powers and responsibilities from the national government to county governments will bring decision making closer to the people. This approach, known as devolution, is at the core of Kenya’s reform agenda. This new framework fundamentally changes the way the government operates and relates to its citizens. If successfully implemented, devolution puts the country on the path toward more efficient, transparent, and accountable governance. A long and challenging process, this will open up many opportunities for progress and growth.
