Description

GIZ has been supporting economic and social development and reconstruction in Tajikistan since 1995, and opened an office in the capital Dushanbe in 1996.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ is implementing bilateral and regional projects, most of which currently support sustainable economic development or the health sector. Other projects focus on education, sustainable management of natural resources, tourism development, and the promotion of the rule of law.

On behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office (AA), GIZ is conducting a transboundary water management project in Central Asia.

On behalf of BMZ, GIZ is implementing the Framework and Finance for Private Sector Development programme. As well as supporting the development of the private sector, this involves dismantling barriers to trade and providing advice on microfinance and the raw materials sector.
